I hadn't planned on submitting nominations for the EduBlog Awards (#eddies14) when I first noticed the tweets on twitter this afternoon. I was just unwinding from a particularly stressful day when I began to read the tweets posted about the awards and other nominees.
I skimmed the categories and thought of the amazing people that make up my PLN. I am sincerely blessed to be connected to so many AWESOME administrators and teachers that keep me on a positive path.
With that in mind, I had to take the few minutes to nominate two bloggers who have impacted my practice significantly. ( I also had to write this post so that my nominations can count twice!)
Best Individual Blog - Peter DeWitt's Finding Common Ground
Peter's blog is my definite "go to" blog. The topics are varied, current and push my thinking. Peter tells it like it is and challenges me and my practice. He's also such a supporter of varied voices and hosts many guest bloggers a month. It's not about Peter and his idea. It's about what's best for students, plain and simple, rocky or not. Through his blog, he models what connected leadership really is and concrete steps we can take to enhance our practices.
Best Administrator Blog - Jon Harper's Bailey and Derek's Daddy
Jon's blog is the one I read when I need to be reminded to lead with the heart. It cuts through everyday situations to remind us what's most important. I've had the privilege of co-authoring a post with him and through that exchange, I realized that we are all more alike than different.
I've had the distinct privilege of meeting both bloggers in person and can attest to the fact that they are both indeed as amazing (in person) as they seem (online). These gentlemen have significantly impacted my performance this year as an administrator in more ways than either of them likely realize.
Their social media presence has made a difference here.
Here's to two amazing members of my awesome PLN!
